Xiaomi is back with the next big thing in mobile phone innovation, which is a major overhaul of its operating system. With the release of HyperOS 2.0, Xiaomi will make that big leap forward: introducing by default an ‘Extra RAM’ feature expanding from 4 GB to 6 GB to redefine the very essence of multitasking and performance on its devices.
What is the Extra RAM Feature?
This extra RAM allows Xiaomi devices to run part of their internal storage as virtual RAM. This is an emerging breed of technology using memory extension in order to improve device performance, giving more available RAM to run parallel apps without slowing down.
From HyperOS 1.0 and MIUI 14 to HyperOS 2.0
With MIUI 14 and the original version of HyperOS, the Extra RAM feature defaulted to 4 GB. Although this was good, to say the least, it placed the update to default at 6 GB in HyperOS 2.0 as a considerable enhancement aimed at changing things for the better in user experience.t
Benefits of the 6 GB Upgrade
Finally, the boost increased by 6 GB for Extra RAM means users will experience:
- Improved Multitasking: Keep more apps open in the background without a sweat. This, in particular, benefits power users switching between complex apps quite often.
- Improved Gaming Performance: This additional buffer will be used by games running large amounts of memory, which reduce frame drops and game stutter.
- Smoother Running of Heavy Applications: Video editing or high-end graphic applications that eat a lot of RAM will run much smoother, therefore increasing productivity and user satisfaction.
This leads toadies—showing user-centric design through Xiaomi’s decision to enlarge the Extra RAM function. Further fine-tuning of its software enhancements to meet and exceed users’ expectations will continue unabated at Xiaomi through feedback and observations on how users are using their devices.
Compatibility and Availability
Xiaomi devices will receive this new upgrade in the form of HyperOS 2.0, fitted with the extra feature of Extra RAM. Rollouts would initially take place for newer devices, followed by deployments to older compatible devices running the HyperOS. Users can check if their device is compatible via Xiaomi’s official website or through settings on their device in the software update section.
The uptick to 6 GB additional RAM with the new Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 is not a numerical increment per se; rather, it enables users to have a much smoother and more responsive experience on their devices
. With blurred lines between desktop and mobile computing, these sorts of innovations are dilemmas that keep smartphones exactly at the very front of technological development. Basically, with Xiaomi taking mobility further and further, it’s promising for a future with enhanced capabilities from HyperOS 2.0—pretty much all that Xiaomi users have been expecting to date worldwide.
Why don’t they fix Redmi k50i original ram issues first instead of adding more virtual ram options?
thanks very nice hyperos
Redmi note 13 pro5g already has the option of virtual ram 4-6-8gb, what does this mean now. and I have to say that it was a sad day when my phone switched from miui to hyperos. so many errors, bugs, anything and everything that is not needed. ..wow!!!!
I don’t know what should be new about it. With my Xiaomi 12t pro, the extra memory. (called memory expansion) even 8 GB can be selected.
This extra memory ram is bad and unnecessary for devices that have 6 GB of real RAM or more. Because it will do the opposite and slow down the entire smartphone, as technology experts have already stated. So this is nothing new that we should be euphoric or happy. It’s to pass by and forget.
My device redmi note 12 4G after upgrading to hyperos often appears pop up your bluetooth extension has stopped, the problem appears when watching youtube videos. after there was a hyperos update I updated again, but the problem that often appears pop up blueetooth extension still occurs. 😤
I bought the new redmi 13 and discovered that i cannot open multiscreen on it. And also it says i am not going to receive they hyper os 2 update. How true is this ? I am not enjoying the phone at all
When HyperOS 2.0 came to Redmi note 13
The update is not really hyper but hypo, I sincerely regretted my actions for updating from miui to hypo nonsense, am already planning to sell the note 13, am going back to where I come from, Samsung!!!
Useless, extra ram feature is not good for multitasking, it slows down the phone a lot. I disabled it and the phone is much faster. From note 10pro to 13 I was surprise the phone lags a lot, turns out it was using virtual memory by default. Now I might upgrade to note 13 pro 12gb, as Xiaomi only offer 8gb at launch.
Yeah finally we can download more ram. Lets goo 🤣
I love xiaomi
I don’t find Extra ram features useful, I have noticed when it is enabled it slows down the phone.
6??? My POCO F6 PRO came out of the box with +8🙄
I’m tempted to return my Redmi Note 11 Pro as there are so many bugs, it’s actually a faulty handset now! They don’t seem to keen to keen fix!
Give redmi note 10 pro harper OS UPDATE 😏
Redmi note 12 4G The more Ram, the better it is to prevent freezing We look forward to receiving it
Already have options for up to extra 12g. So what else is there. Redmi note 13 pro plus
