Xiaomi has announced the roll-out of its Android 15 Beta 2 based on HyperOS, which will be available from July 12, 2024. This comes after the May 2024 release of the initial Beta 1. Though tagged as Beta 2, Xiaomi’s second beta makes use of Android’s upcoming Beta 4 version, that is itself yet to be released.
Device Compatibility and Download
The update is available for different devices depending on the region: in China, it supports Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 14 Pro, Redmi K60 Ultra, and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4; it supports Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 13T Pro, and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 for global users.

Methods of Installation
This update, specifically for China devices, is installable via Fastboot or Recovery; on Global devices, however, it’s only installable via Recovery.
Recovery Installation Method
To install the update via recovery mode, follow these steps:
- Back up data: Recovery flashing will erase all data. Therefore, refer to the backup tutorial and back up your data on your computer before performing recovery.
- Download the ROM: From the announcement, download the required model’s ROM and copy it to your phone storage’s root directory.
- Access OS upgrade page: Enter Settings → My Device → Click the system icon to enter the OS upgrade page → Click the OS icon ten times.
- Manual Installation: Settings -> My Devices -> Click the system icon to enter the OS upgrade page -> More in the upper right corner -> Manually select installation package.
- Install ROM: Select the root directory installation package and click on Install.
Note: Before you start flashing through the recovery method, make sure that your device is updated to the latest official version.
Fastboot Flash Guide
For those using the fastboot method, follow these steps:
- Backup Data: The Mi Flash will clear all data. Please back it up in advance to your computer.
- Download MiFlash Tool: Always remember to Unlock Bootloader before you start flashing.
- Download ROM: On the announcement page, download the suitable model ROM, extract it, and place it on the root of drive D. Enter Fastboot Mode: Switch off the phone, then press the power on and volume down keys all at once to go into Fastboot mode, then plug into a computer.
- Load Device: Click Load Device and then select the file.
- Flash ROM— Delete All and refresh the device at the upper right corner, then wait while it completes for about 10 minutes.
Although Xiaomi’s HyperOS-based Android 15 Beta 2 hints at its mobile operating system’s future, it’s filled with advanced features and performance enhancements.
