Xiaomi HyperOS “iOS-style recent apps” feature is now available to download

Xiaomi has finally rolled out the very first beta build of the highly awaited iOS card stack design for the Recently Used Apps quickswitch, an upgrade that brings major changes in the HyperOS graphical interface. This new regime of recent apps navigation, announced publicly after conducting an online users’ survey in the year 2023, is now available for users of both HyperOS 2 and HyperOS 3.

iOS-Like Recent Apps Menu Now Available on HyperOS

This new Recent Apps UI brings with it a vertically stacked card arrangement similar to iOS, rather than having it flat or arranged in a grid system in the traditional design. Before gaining entry to this new UI design, it has to be turned on in Settings > Recent Apps, where it allows switching between different styles of this new UI design.

This new design has been created by Xiaomi with the aim of making it optional for aesthetic effects while maintaining support for different designs to accommodate different users and different devices’ capabilities. This new design has support for homescreen folder customization; hence, it allows flexibility in adjusting its design

From an design standpoint, the animation system is almost an exact replica of the one found in iOS. As one swipes through the recent applications, the cards fade in response to the blur effect, giving it a smooth finish to the animation process. The animation appears even more elegant with the HyperOS 3 version of the UI.

Tested Compatibility and Version Details

The APK has been tested on HyperOS 2 and HyperOS 3, andthere are stable results on various devices. It can be noted that Xiaomi is planning to gather broader feedback during the beta phase itself.

  • App works on HyperOS 2 but no new recent apps design
  • Fully working on HyperOS 3

The Current Release Version is RELEASE-6.01.03.1924-12162233, so there is ongoing development work going on. Also, there is no performance issue, and there are no system level conflicts observed, not even when running it on mid-range systems.

Large Scale Rollout Likely in HyperOS 3.1

Following the normal update cycle by Xiaomi, the iOS-style Recent Apps menu should make its debut with HyperOS 3.1, which could be available on most supported devices. This is consistent with the recent emphasis on UI consistency and user-submitted feature development by Xiaomi.

Users who are interested in early access may download and install it using HyperOSUpdates.com or via an application named MemeOS Enhancer from Google Play. MemeOS Enhancer is more than an application update service and also includes hidden features in Xiaomi devices, update system applications, and control application updates right on-screen for an advanced experience of HyperOS.
