Redmi K80 Series Exclusive: Model numbers, regions and device codenames

If not for Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi, one of the highly-anticipated device lineups is the Redmi K80 series. Undoubtedly, the leaks and rumors about the forthcoming smartphone lineups have created a buzz among the tech circles. The latest reports hint at the introduction of a number of innovative features in the K80 series, while the lineup is expected to arrive in multiple variants. The lineup, with the possible powerhouse of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, popularly known as Snapdragon 8 Elite, can give Redmi’s flagship a shot in the arm. Let’s take a deep dive into what has come out so far.

Codenames and Models

Well, that leak does show some interesting information regarding the codenames, model numbers of the upcoming gadgets, and gives us a hint about their configuration and market availability.

  • The codename of Redmi K80 Pro is seemingly Miro, and it’s going to be powered by Qualcomm’s next-gen chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (Snapdragon 8 Elite). Model numbers 24117RK2CG and 24117RK2CC for the K80 Pro have therefore been leaked to confirm that there’ll be more than one configuration of this device.
  • Standard Redmi K80 carries the codename Zorn and is offered with model numbers 24122RKC7G/24122RKC7C. For now, no details regarding its chipset have surfaced, although it is tipped to come with an upper-mid-end powerful processor for increased competitiveness in the mid-to-high-end segment.

There is also a rumor about a third model, codenamed Rodin-it also will become available Global, China and India. Its model number is still unknown, but the device is expected to offer quite well-balanced performance at a lower price.

Global and Regional Availability

Now, one of the exciting things about the Redmi K80 series would be its possible global availability. While many flagship devices are often confined to select markets, the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro could head to global shores like Turkey, among several other regions. In any case, this has been cleared that these models would not go on sale in India.

Potential Features and Specifications

Although certain details about the specification of the Redmi K80 series are hazy, there is a multitude of exciting rumors concerning some features and hardware that may be integrated into these devices.

On the other hand, the Redmi K80 Pro may sport the integration of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Basically, Qualcomm’s new chipset is expected to bring significant enhancements in AI, superior power efficiency, and fine gaming performance. If true, that places K80 Pro as a strong contender in the series of flagship smartphones.

Expected Launch Date

Till now, Redmi officials had hinted that the K80 series would be launched by the end of this year. Of course, with the holiday season looming, it is highly expected that Redmi should slate a launch event around November or December to align with holiday shopping. This would certainly keep up tradition; flagship devices that launch during the final quarter of the year really drive in the festive sales season.

The Redmi K80 series is starting to shape up to be one of the most exciting releases in Xiaomi’s 2024 lineup, touting powerful hardware while promising global availability with price tags that might just make them game-changing across flagship and mid-tier markets alike. Adding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 onto the Pro version and adding some more high-end features such as fast charging, AMOLED displays, and advanced camera systems might be what it takes for the K80 series to hold a strong head against other main smartphone brands.

While the official launch is yet to take place, one thing is certain: Redmi has stuck to its guns with the provision of high-quality devices at attractive prices, a factor that has helped in no small measure in further cementing its status as one of the most popular smartphone brands in the world. As we draw closer to the official launch of the Redmi K80 series, do stay tuned to Xiaomi’s announcements for what is surely going to be one of the hottest launches in the tech calendar.
