Fake “Instant Unlock” Software is Malware
Certain nasty hackers have shared a tool with a name “Xiaomi Instant Unlock” and say that it can unlock your bootloader in a matter of seconds. But, actually, it is a thief that steals your private information, including:
- Bank account information
- Social Media Log In Credentials
- Crypto wallets
The scammer recently victimized our XiaomiTime’s X (Twitter), hijacking its account in an effort to sell such a counterfeit device. DO NOT DOWNLAOD AND INSTALL IT!!!
Official Unlock Rules for Mi Bootloader
Xiaomi maintains two disparate policies for unlocking bootloaders:
- Chinese ROM Devices → Bootloader can only be unlocked by Chinese citizens. Chinese citizens cannot unlock bootloaders in China ROM devices any longer.
- Global ROM Devices → Official 30 days waiting period. There have been instances when it’s been reduced to 15 days with certain tricks, but instant unlocking isn’t an option.
Xiaomi no longer has an immediate unlocking service for its phones. Anyone who informs you otherwise is a scammer.
