On 1 October, the State Intellectual Property Office published a new patent for a foldable phone design by Xiaomi. The patent was filled on 31 March 2023 and granted to publish on 1 October 2024. It has specified an innovative disassemblable foldable phone. This design makes the device compact, with a large screen and simple assembly to make production cheaper, according to the patent.
Normally, the phone is in an unfolded state, small in size, with only a part of the screen area deployed, but they contain the magic with removable screen parts, extending functionality. According to one of the patent drawings, the upper half of the screen could rotate independently-very much in line with what we had seen in Nokia’s 6260 model.
While the patent resembles Xiaomi’s coming MIX Flip with three sensors, an LED flash, side-mounted power and volume buttons, it introduces a fresh take on foldable phone technology that could herald even more innovations in the foldables market.
