This morning, the Xiaomi Charity Foundation announced a blockbuster: it will donate 720 million yuan to set up special funds for supporting basic research, applied basic research, and construction of scientific research talent teams. It reflects the fact that Xiaomi accelerates scientific innovation and pays great attention to cultivating the next generation of scientific researchers in China.
Key Aspects of the Donation
This funding will not only focus on basic scientific research but also on the application thereof, which is the key to technological development. Talent Development: Part of the donation will be used to build and further develop scientific research teams as a guarantee for long-term sustainability or continuance of these fields.
The Xiaomi Charity Foundation was established in 2019 with an initial fund of 10 million yuan, and has since been committed to supporting a variety of education and research activities. In 2020, the foundation launched the Xiaomi Scholarship with the goal of providing funding for five years to 100 universities across China, expecting a total investment of 500 million yuan.
It was in February 2022 that Xiaomi introduced the project Xiaomi Young Scholars, to concentrate more on nurturing young scientific talent. The project, which intends to donate 500 million yuan, also targets 100 universities across China and reinforces the role of Xiaomi in shaping up the future of science and technology education.
This latest donation of 720 million yuan reflects the expanding philanthropic footprint of Xiaomi, particularly in causes involving scientific research and educational development.
