Xiaomi to introduce iOS-compatible live photos on Android this month

Xiaomi will be transforming the way people capture photos using their smartphones with its innovative Live Photos feature launching on the Civi 5 Pro later in the month. The new technology enabling users to fast-forward through video to create beautiful dynamic photos directly from the system album is a significant step in the field of smartphone photographic ability. This new feature continues Xiaomi’s history of camera innovation with seamless integration into HyperOS and unmatched cross-platform sharing  enhancements setting new standards for the competition.

Official promotional materials identify the Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro as bringing in extensive Live Picture full-link editing features. This groundbreaking technology allows users to:

  • Splice Live Photos taken within the gallery application directly
  • Build custom layouts from multiple Live Photos
  • Edit Live Photos at full resolution using professional-grade software
  • Enable cross-ecosystem transmission on iOS devices
  • One-stop social sharing platform integration

This is the first time an established Android manufacturer has built such an end-to-end ecosystem for dynamic image creation and sharing, placing Xiaomi at the pinnacle of this new photography category.

Strong Specifications of Hardware

The Civi 5 Pro not only leads the way in terms of camera innovation; it also boasts impressive hardware features to support its software. The phone has:

  • Snapdragon 8s Gen 4
  • 6.55-inch curved micro-narrow edge display
  • Three-dimensional convex ring cooling system
  • Independent gaming antenna (cuts latency by as much as 44%)
  • Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery with silicon content of 10%
  • 6000mAh large battery capacity – Leica Floating Telephoto System
  • 50-megapixel front camera with high sensitivity

Increasing Ecological Integration

The Live Photos feature is part of Xiaomi’s drive to construct an integrated technology ecosystem. The company last month launched its HyperOS “WeChat Moments Live Photos” adaptation initiative, which will extend similar functionality to more than 20 devices, including the commercially successful REDMI Turbo 4.

The MemeOS Enhancer application from the Play Store can be downloaded by users who want to prepare their current Xiaomi devices for future features. This tool allows for using hidden Xiaomi functionality, updating system apps, and direct access to OTA updates without staged rollouts.
