Xiaomi is commencing a 15 to 20-day hiatus as China’s longest and most significant holiday, the Chinese New Year, has arrived. This official holiday period, spanning from February 17 to March 3, will significantly impact the release schedule of Xiaomi updates.
During this time, Xiaomi will pause the release of new updates and halt the compilation of internal test versions for about 15 days. Operations will be temporarily suspended; therefore, users should not expect any new updates for the next 15 days. Additionally, the weekly bug reports and their resolutions will not be published, marking the start of a quiet period for update enthusiasts.
Xiaomi has already begun winding down operations, nearly stopped generating internal test builds about 4-5 days ago. The updates currently being released to the public are based on builds compiled two weeks prior. Consequently, new development has effectively come to a standstill.
Why is this holiday so long?
Unlike New Year holidays in Europe or the US, the Chinese New Year is of immense cultural importance. It is customary for companies in China to grant extended leave during this festival, allowing millions of employees—from engineers to factory workers—to return to their hometowns and visit their families.
Xiaomi, like other China-based tech giants such as OPPO, Vivo, and OnePlus, enters a “maintenance mode” during this period. Regular update schedules are expected to resume after Xiaomi returns from the holiday break around March 3.
