Recently, Xiaomi Auto released Episode 72 of its Q&A series, in which it mainly deals with users’ frequently asked questions about features for the Xiaomi SU7, such as the wireless CarPlay function, driving record capabilities, and many more. Here is a summary of some of the most important updates:
Whether Xiaomi SU7 Driving: Recorder can record the voice?
- Sound Recording: The driving record function of the Xiaomi SU7 doesn’t record any sound. It only uses several cameras, like front and rear ones, and even side-view cameras for comprehensive coverage of the car, but it does not record audio to protect the privacy of others.
- Activating Driving Recorder: Driving recorder-activate by inserting the provided USB flash drive inside the glove compartment. It is from here that the switch-on/switch-off of the driving record function is allowed under the settings for Safety and Service.
- Emergency Saves: Recordings in emergency cases can be saved through: Down-swipe from the top left of the control screen into the Control Center and tap “Driving Record.”
- Triggers the “Save Horn” feature: it will autosave video before and after honking. For this to work, the driving record should be enabled.
- Automatic Saves during Emergencies: If an emergency were to occur, the recorder automatically locks a view 60 seconds back from any detected event and continues 30 seconds after the event for complete documentation of the incident.
Limitations of Wireless CarPlay with iPhones
- The Xiaomi SU7 supports wireless CarPlay for iPhones. It’s interesting to note, however, that if an iPhone connects to that CarPlay, it cannot simultaneously connect to the car’s Wi-Fi hotspot.
- iPhones without connectivity to CarPlay can then piggy-back on the car’s available hotspot, which enables internet connectivity for additional devices.
Smart Chassis Ambient Light Update
However, Xiaomi reiterated that this update of the smart chassis ambient light image on Xiaomi Mall was just a routine refresh of product images on the page and did not mean any technical upgrade to the lighting feature.
Lost Key Card Replacement
- Key Card Replacement Process: In case of losses, the key card owner may visit any of the service centers authorized by Xiaomi Auto and have it replaced for 118 yuan, a price set nationwide.
- Temporary Access: Users can temporarily unlock their vehicle with methods other than the provided card, such as the Xiaomi Auto app or Bluetooth/NFC keys, until a replacement card is issued.
With such details, Xiaomi Auto continues to give transparently and effectively responsive support to SU7 owners, ensuring that at every update, it’s convenient and secure to use the vehicles. Continue checking other insights from future Q&A sessions as Xiaomi expands its automotive expertise:.
