Recently, a report from “Intelligent Emergence” refers to Xiaomi’s latest move that this brand is going to launch a new generation of AI glasses jointly developed with Goertek. It is expected that this product will be launched in Q2 2025, maybe during the annual Mi Fan Festival in April. According to sources, Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, feels confident about the shipping volume of these AI glasses, expecting it to be at least 300,000 units.
Key Features and Market Positioning
Industry sources say that the new AI-powered glasses from Xiaomi will directly compete with Meta’s versions featuring Ray-Ban. Equipped with advanced functions of AI, integrated audio headphone modules, and cameras, the glasses are expected to wear Xiaomi’s brand name. The strategy is targeted at positioning Xiaomi’s product as a strong rival in the growing wearable technology market.
Growing Competition in the Market of AI Glasses
The report points out that other technology giants, including OPPO, vivo, Huawei, Tencent, ByteDance, and even Apple, are eyeing the AI glasses sector. However, most of these companies remain at the initial stage of market assessment and have yet to establish projects officially. Because of this fact, it is believed that most of the brands would not be able to release any products before the second half of 2025, therefore making a way for Xiaomi to be at an advantage in the market till then.
In September, Meta released Meta Orion, the most expensive AR glasses ever. Production is set to start by 2027, and its lightweight design caught the attention of tech enthusiasts around the world. With Meta’s ambitious roadmap, Xiaomi’s timely foray into AI glasses stands to strengthen its position in the wearables space.
Other Domestic and International Developments
Meizu and Baidu have announced different types of glasses models domestically. Baidu’s “Xiaodu AI Glasses” would hit the official market in the first half of next year. In October, Rokid introduced a new model of AR glasses, which made an appearance on November 18th launch with various exciting functions, such as photo translation, real-time navigating, and AI-powered voice assistant functions. In October, Thunderbird also released an Air3 glass model with a Micro-OLED display and a high refresh rate of 120Hz at the starting price of 1,699 yuan.
Strategy and Future Outlook for Xiaomi
New Xiaomi AI eyeglasses, due to drop onto the market in early 2025, are targeting a lion’s share of the growing wearable market with the robust influence and fan base that the brand has been able to amass. The entry of Xiaomi could further accelerate the adoption of AI-enhanced wearable technology among consumers worldwide. For now, these reports have not been officially confirmed by Xiaomi, but considering the company’s convoluted recent collaborations and Lei Jun’s ambitions with regard to shipment, the launching of the AI glasses by Xiaomi is shaping up to be one of the major key highlights of next year in wearable technology.
