Xiaomi resolves HyperOS Wallpaper black screen issue

The annoying wallpaper display bug that has been bothering Xiaomi users upon switching from landscape to portrait orientation has finally been solved in the new HyperOS update. Proposal number 48511715, which was put forth by user “White Storm” in accordance with the official Vol-198 HyperOS Weekly Bug Report, now exists in a fixed status. This bug resulted in AI dynamic wallpapers appearing in the incorrect display after apps have been used in landscape orientation, with users complaining of half of their wallpaper turning black or appearing stretched upon entering the home screen. This bug was especially frustrating for users who make frequent use of AI dynamic wallpapers, one of the most aesthetically pleasing aspects of Xiaomi’s new operating system.

The Wallpaper Display Problem Uncovered

The bug affected users in several specific scenarios:

  • Upon leaving games played in landscape/horizontal orientation
  • When viewing videos in full-screen, landscape mode
  • While often flipping among applications and the home screen

Users complained that this bug was happening repeatedly every day, resulting in a disjointed visual experience that took away from HyperOS’s otherwise refined interface. The AI dynamic wallpapers, which have been created to respond and adjust to user interaction, would not render at all, with around half of the screen appearing as a black section or stretched out graphics.

How Xiaomi Resolved the Issue

The fix in the Vol-198 release corrects the fundamental problem with the system’s handling of orientation

  • Resolved the resource management during changes in screen orientations
  • Enhanced the rendering pipeline for AI dynamic wallpapers
  • Improved memory allocation for wallpapers upon orientation changes

These technological advancements ensure that the wallpaper accurately redraws itself upon user return to their home screen irrespective of what orientation was used in a previously used application.

Further Enhancements in Vol-198

In addition to resolving the wallpaper bug, Vol-198 contains a number of other improvements:

  • Smooth animation transitions among applications
  • Less memory usage for system UI components
  • Improved gesture navigation responsiveness
  • Improved overall system stability

These changes together bring a more seamless, dependable user experience to the entire HyperOS interface, especially for those who regularly alternate among various applications and screen orientations.

Users can install the updates in their system via Settings or can use the MemeOS Enhancer app that can be found in the Play Store. The MemeOS Enhancer application not only allows access to updated features but also to hidden Xiaomi features, system app updates, as well as screen update control.
