Xiaomi releases smart fix that stops random pop-up ads

Manufactured for a clean user experience, Xiaomi has now officially rolled out a new fix that can eradicate random pop-up ads generated by hidden third-party applications. The issue, which was addressed through Xiaomi’s official channels, affects a small number of devices running Xiaomi HyperOS. Fortunately, users can secure their smartphones with the built-in Security app by scanning and removing malicious packages.

What Caused the Random Pop-Up Ads

Tracing the problem showed that the malware is caused by malicious third-party applications: the apps hide their icons right after installation and go on running in the background silently. They inject unauthorized pop-up advertisements at system level, without user interaction. Xiaomi acknowledged that the two major sources of the problems are:

  • com.anglow.mepapers
  • tf.tap.fame

These applications bypass standard user visibility by removing their launcher icons and employ background services for triggering ads. Xiaomi has already removed “com.anglow.mepapers” from its App Store ecosystem, which greatly reduces the risks of new installations.

Official Solution by Xiaomi for affected devices

Xiaomi advises an immediate system scan using the Security app, installed by default on all Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices. This tool now detects these hidden malicious apps and allows users to safely remove them without compromising system stability.

The solution is completely compatible with the devices of Xiaomi that run HyperOS, and it works as-is without the need for additional system updates. For those power users seeking deeper system control, official Xiaomi system apps can also be updated by going to HyperOSUpdates.com or through using the MemeOS Enhancer app, which is available from the Play Store.

Key benefits of Xiaomi’s fix:

  • Automatic detection of hidden malicious apps
  • Safe uninstallation via Xiaomi Security
  • Improved background app monitoring
  • Does not affect any system performance

How Users Can Protect Their Devices

To avoid problems of this nature happening in the future, download applications from trusted sources, says Xiaomi, and regularly scan the device. The Security app now comes with stronger background behavior analysis to help users identify any abnormal activity more quickly. Users who install MemeOS Enhancer gain access to:

  • Hidden Xiaomi features
  • System app updates
  • Direct access to screen-based updater functions

These tools support better control of system-level applications with a reduction in potential security risks.
