Xiaomi preps update server for HyperOS 2.0 major update

Xiaomi is all set to release the much-anticipated successor of HyperOS 1.0, dubbed HyperOS 2.0. Introduced back in October 2023 as a replacement for MIUI, the HyperOS is considered the equivalent artifact that stands for Xiaomi’s commitment to evolving its software ecosystem. Considering how the company makes some early preparations for the stable release of HyperOS 2.0, here’s what we know.

HyperOS Update Server and Versioning Changes

Recent changes to Xiaomi’s update server for HyperOS give us a nod towards the release. The previous server version used an identifier called “Bigversion”, where V816 referred to HyperOS 1.0. Now, they have opted to use a new array labeled as “OS Big Version” alongside “Big Version.” This addition shows the exact version of HyperOS and is now pointing towards 1.0 at the side of V816. In MIUI versions, bigversion was .. 12, 13, 14 .

This update presents a sea change condition that Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 is leaving the closed beta testing on a server to open servers and will soon reach the open beta testing process. In simple words, this means that Xiaomi will soon start the stable beta testing of HyperOS 2.0.

Potential Release Timeline

Speculation on the release date of HyperOS 2.0 corroborates that it may be launched with Android 15 in August 2024. In case the target is not fulfilled, then a new version may come out in October 2024; with that comes the Xiaomi 15 Series. Whatever the month, the expectation for HyperOS 2.0 is already running high among Xiaomi device users and across the tech forums.

Addressing Previous Criticisms

Three days ago, in our an article about the HyperOS 1.5 update criticized Xiaomi over the HyperOS version. According to critics, the said version appeared as 1.0 and not 1.5. Checking on the new server, one finds that the versions released as the HyperOS 1.5 update show “OS Big Version” as 0.0. This discrepancy, where it is shown as OS0.0 while other updates appear as 1.0, validates the existence of the version HyperOS 1.5.

What to Expect from HyperOS 2.0

Since specific features of HyperOS 2.0 have not yet been disclosed, users can look forward to several feature improvements and new functionalities that will display on top of the base put down by HyperOS 1.0. Preventive maintenance in performance, refinement of user experience, and deeper integration with Xiaomi’s hardware ecosystem are very likely to be the key focus areas. While Xiaomi is still developing up to HyperOS 2.0, the community is already waiting with bated breath for further announcements and official release dates. Stay tuned for more updates about this promising development in Xiaomi’s software progress.

Things are not certain at Xiaomi. Today 2.0, tomorrow 1.5. on iPhone, we would read on Wikipedia a minute ago and would get the update the next minute on checking for updates.

It is ridiculous that Redmi Note 11 Pro did not receive the hyperos 2.0 update. It should have received Android 14, but it did not. It should have received Android 15, but it will not receive it. Since it will not receive Android 15 and Android 14, Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G will receive hyperos 2.0. They should bring the update based on Android 13, just like the HyperOS 1.0 version.

And you can’t even fix the Audio Codex. Bluetooth devices not working properly even setting up manually from SBC to AAC, and even using the developers option.
