In this prestigious event, the highest award was given to the company’s own XRING O1 chip, which is a flagship 3nm processor. With this achievement, Xiaomi becomes the fourth company globally to manufacture these advanced chips, and it is the first to do so within mainland China.
Technical Computing Power of the XRING O1 3nm Chip
The XRING O1 chip is a monumental success for the company’s engineering staff. It is made using a second-generation 3nm technology process with deca-core architecture, which is divided into four clusters. Perhaps the most important piece of information revealed about the chip is the fact that it attained its fully functional state in just six days from the date of its reception.
The 2026 Grand Convergence Vision
Looking ahead to the future, Lei Jun made a big plan in 2026, known as “Grand Convergence.” The plan is to merge three different pillars. The pillars are Xiaomi’s processor, its HyperOS system, and its in-house developed large AI models. All three are to be combined into a single device to offer a superior experience.
The goal of these integrations is to enhance the “Human x Car x Home” ecosystem. In this way, the company is able to manage the entire hardware, software, or even AI intelligence to ensure a smooth connection between different gadgets. The above goals also encompass innovations in the field of robotics and Xiaomi HyperConnect technologies.
Huge Investments in Research and Development
For the implementation of this ambitious vision, Xiaomi is set to allocate a total of $27.5 billion (200 billion yuan) for R&D in the next five years. The major area where this large budget will be spent is on various high-tech fields. Development in semiconductors, AI, and autonomous driving technology will continue as the core area for the development of the ‘Technological Fortress.’
