Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro may feature Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

Xiaomi is gearing up to make a significant impact in the tablet market. According to recent insights from Mi Code, both the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro are expected to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (SM8850) chipset. This move signals a clear intent from Xiaomi to raise the performance bar across its tablet lineup.

Snapdragon Flagship Performance for Both Models

What stands out here is that both the standard and Pro models are reportedly equipped with the same flagship processor. Traditionally, the “Pro” version would offer a more advanced chipset, but Xiaomi appears to be focusing on differentiating the two through features such as display quality, battery capacity, faster charging, or productivity enhancements rather than pure processing power.

Regardless of whether both models receive the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, it’s virtually certain that the Pro will feature it—positioning the Pad 8 Pro as one of the most powerful Android tablets slated for 2025. Both variants are anticipated to come with 8GB and 12GB RAM options, supporting seamless multitasking and high-performance use cases, from business productivity to entertainment and gaming. However, we think this is a mistake from us or Xiaomi and that the Pad 8 will use another Snapdragon processor (probably SM8750, Snapdragon 8s Gen 4).

Strategic Implications for Xiaomi

The decision to equip both models with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 could indicate Xiaomi’s strategy to redefine value in the tablet segment, offering flagship-level performance across its portfolio. The Pad 8 Pro will likely set itself apart with enhanced display technology, faster charging, or advanced accessory support.

If the current information holds, the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro could become highly competitive options in the Android tablet market for 2025, leveraging the power of Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Xiaomi’s evolving HyperOS ecosystem. The official launch is expected soon, and the industry will be watching closely to see how Xiaomi positions these devices globally.
