Consequently, a lot have been patiently waiting for updates, including for the January 2025 security update, rollout of HyperOS 2.1 Globally, and HyperOS 2 updates for supported devices
When will Updates Come Back?
Xiaomi software development and update rollout will resume in February 2025 when the corporation returns from Chinese New Year holidays. Historically, Xiaomi scales down ota updates, beta releases, and development for HyperOS during this period, for both China and Global ROM timelines. Global rollout of 2.1, a new version of HyperOS, is planned, but with a break during holidays, delayed.
What Updates Are Delayed?
- Security Patch for January 2025: Most of them have not yet received the most recently updated security that will issue in late January. The update is critical for security and bug fixing for the system.
- Global Release of HyperOS 2.1: The initial batch of HyperOS 2.1 Globales was initially scheduled for mid February.
- Pending Updates for HyperOS 2: Some of Xiaomi and REDMI smartphones await yet to receive HyperOS 2.
The rollout will occur in phases after a return to work in mid-February for the Xiaomi.
Projected Timeline for Software Updates for Xiaomi
- February 12-15, 2025: Xiaomi reopens operations
- Mid February 2025: Rollouts of updates resume, including security updates and delayed updates.
- End February to early March 2025: Rollout of HyperOS 2.1 worldwide ramps up
Xiaomi’s update schedule will slow down for a short period due to Chinese New Year festivities, but life will normalize in mid-February 2025. In case you’re waiting for a security update, HyperOS 2.1, or a future HyperOS 2 update, update times will normalize in a matter of weeks. Look out for updates in future for when Xiaomi will commence its next big rollout

I downloaded 2.020 on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 13pro plus, I set the region to Argentina, and when it was updated it went back to Serbia and it works, sometimes it slows down but it’s awesome.
