Xiaomi maintains strong third place in Q2 2025 global market

IDC’s latest report confirms Xiaomi’s continued strength in the global smartphone market for Q2 2025. Amid persistent economic headwinds—think tariff shifts, currency fluctuations, and inflation—Xiaomi managed to ship 42.5 million smartphones, securing a 14.4% share of the global market. That’s a clear demonstration of resilience and effective strategy. Xiaomi’s commitment to building out its HyperOS ecosystem and expanding its international user base has helped it maintain a competitive edge, even as the industry faces mounting pressure.

Global Market Overview

Worldwide smartphone shipments hit 295.2 million units this quarter, showing a modest 1% growth year-over-year. The market is inching upward, but demand remains tough to spark—especially in the lower-end Android segment, where consumers are watching their budgets closely. Manufacturers are having to rethink their playbooks to stay relevant in this environment.

Xiaomi’s Performance in Context

Xiaomi’s Q2 results—42.5 million units shipped versus 42.3 million a year ago—amount to a 0.6% increase. Not huge, but in a challenging market, even incremental growth matters. Holding a steady 14.4% market share, Xiaomi has demonstrated strong portfolio management and the ability to adjust its positioning in response to shifting industry pressures.

Market Leaders

Samsung continues to lead, shipping 58 million units for a 19.7% share and a notable 7.9% year-over-year increase, thanks in large part to the success of its Galaxy A36 and A56 launches. Apple remains in second place, moving 46.4 million units (15.7% share, up 1.5%). Vivo and Transsion complete the top five, though Transsion saw a slight decline.

Regional Insights

In China, the 618 e-commerce festival and government subsidy programs supported promotions, but companies largely focused on prudent inventory management over aggressive shipment boosts. This approach reflects a more mature, sustainable business strategy and positions manufacturers for long-term stability.

For Xiaomi users interested in optimizing their device experience, the MemeOS Enhancer app—available on the Play Store—offers access to lesser-known features, system app updates, and streamlined update management.
