Xiaomi leads the transition of 64-bit apps, adaptation rate as high as 99.6%

Xiaomi, along with other members of the Mobile Smart Terminal Ecological Alliance-previously known as the Gold Label Alliance-have achieved great success in migrating applications to 64-bit architecture. As a striking presence in this shift of the industry, a shocking adaptation rate of 99.6% across Xiaomi’s app store shows that indeed the company is at the forefront.

The Importance of 64-Bit Architecture

Up until 2023, the move to 64-bit architecture pushed mobile performance and security forward. The Arm architecture phased out instructions for 32-bit, while Android 15 furthered this change in not allowing the installation and use of 32-bit apps on new devices, starting in September 2024. The transition is important, as 64-bit apps make for better resource management, rapid processing, and generally enhanced performance of the device-all to ease the user experience.

Most apps can no longer be installed on Xiaomi phones

Xiaomi’s Role in the Transition

It has long been at work, preparing for this transition in ensuring almost all the apps in its store are now 64-bit compliant. As such, Xiaomi reduced the number of non-compliant applications running on its stores to more than 99.6% of apps fully adapted. Meanwhile, over 3,700 applications have yet to adapt across the stores of this alliance, most of which are not offered for download, hence assuring minimal disturbance to users.

Getting into the details, Xiaomi’s move here reflects the company’s focus on providing a seamless experience across devices; hence, it is now discarding support for outdated 32-bit apps, which, in general, make both app efficiency and system stability more responsive and fit for modern tasks.

Android 15 Impact and the Aftermath of the Alliance’s Efforts

The fact that Google made 64-bit-only apps a requirement starting with Android 15 accelerated the move for the whole mobile industry. Xiaomi is one of those key manufacturers-OPPO, vivo, and Lenovo-that are gradually cleaning their platform of non-compliant applications. Xiaomi implements a risk warning notice whereby it stops 32-bit apps from populating their stores so as not to expose users to some really outdated software that might affect device performance or security.

Xiaomi’s Commitment to Innovation

Only part of Xiaomi’s broader commitment to innovation and improvement in user experience is the rapid adaptation to a 64-bit ecosystem. Ensuring that users have the latest 64-bit apps will also future-proof the devices. This also constitutes a broader thrust by Xiaomi toward performance optimization to ensure that all its products-run smartphones, tablets, or any other smart device-operate as efficiently as possible.

With Xiaomi continuing to push the boundaries of mobile innovation, the company is committed to making sure users benefit from the latest software and hardware technologies. The testification of the leadership in mobile by Xiaomi and commitment to delivering fast, secure, high-performance devices lies in the 99.6% 64-bit adaptation rate. Xiaomi will continue working with developers to completely weed out the remaining non-compliant apps so that its app store can still be viewed as a trustworthy source by users globally. What a bunch of BS.
    64bit doesn’t improve memory management,
Better OS than CrApDroid does, maybe the one which doesn’t allocate 500MB to the apps running in background, and doesn’t use 8GB of memory on idle, having to reload every app after viewing messages.
