Xiaomi launches new 67W GaN charger kit with smart power support

Xiaomi has today expanded its rich accessory ecosystem by launching a highly efficient power adapter in China. The newly launched Xiaomi 67W GaN charger kit uses a versatile three-port design, which lets users charge a combination of devices in their daily needs. This package is notably equipped with a durable 1.5-meter 6A data cable to ensure immediate usability out of the box. With the use of advanced Gallium Nitride technology, the device maintains a compact form factor while delivering high-power output across various devices, including flagship smartphones and lightweight laptops.

Advanced Charging Architecture

The new charger, with model number MDY-19-EA, incorporates the latest generation of GaN fast charging to ensure high efficiency and thermal management. One of the key features of this accessory is its intelligent power allocation system, allowing “blind plugging” across all the ports. Such engineering enables the charger to operate at a maximum power of 67W, no matter on which single port. This innovation eliminates the need to differentiate between specific high-power ports when connecting a single device.

Moreover, the unit is robust enough to handle 65W charging for compatible notebooks. This makes the adapter a single solution for mobile professionals who want to power a computer and a phone at the same time without having to carry several heavy bricks with them. The interface includes two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, hence 2C1A, to cover both legacy and modern cable types.

Compatibility of Protocol and Prices

But beyond sheer power, versatility is a key ingredient in this new accessory. The charger supports Xiaomi’s proprietary flash charging protocols that ensure the best speeds for current devices such as the [Xiaomi 15] or [Redmi K80 Ultra]. It is also fully compatible with major industry standards including QC2.0, QC3.0, PD3.0, and PPS. This broad compatibility makes it able to safely and fast-charge a wide spectrum of electronics available on the market, from tablets to wearables.

At the moment, this product has been announced only for the Chinese market. The price of this kit is 129 CNY, which comes out to roughly $18 USD. Currently, there is no official information regarding a global release for this model number.
