Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, introduced at tonight’s annual speech the company’s first small folding screen mobile phone: MIX Flip; starting price of 5,999 yuan, trying to change the rules in compact foldable phones. Available in three configurations:
- 12GB+256GB: 5999CNY (825$)
- 12GB+512GB: 6499CNY (894$)
- 16GB+1TB: 7299CNY (1004$)
Compact and versatile Design
The external screen on the Xiaomi MIX Flip is large at 4 inches, and it further features a third-generation Snapdragon 8 processor. Thickness for the foldable device is only 7.6/7.9mm when unfolded and 15.99/16.19mm folded; the device weight is just 192 grams. It will arrive in four beautiful colors:
- Phantom Purple, White: Iridescent frosted glass with sparkling diamond effects.
- Black: Equipped with sandblasted AG glass, resistant to fingerprints.
- Xiaomi Fengyu Fiber Edition: Woven with fiber, three-dimensional texture feels different.
Advanced Display Technology
MIX Flip features a 4.01-inch external screen with a resolution of 1.5K, it is fitted with a 120Hz refresh rate, and the material used is C8+, supporting 1600 nits of global brightness. All these have been put together for this equal-depth four-curve screen designed while being further protected on top by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass. The internal screen comes in 6.86 inches with a same resolution of 1.5K and an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz, supporting 2160Hz PWM + DC Dimming.
Improved Usability
The external screen of the MIX Flip offers the following functions:
- Full-size keyboard: It also supports 9-key, 26-key, handwriting, Wubi, and voice input.
- Independent handset + microphone: Allows users to answer calls without opening the phone, and includes smart partitioning and full-screen photography features.
- Application Compatibility: More than 200 frequent applications are fully compatible, and free space will show smart hanging windows.
- Cute pet lock screen interface: designs include Capybara to bring in a playful touch.
Powerful Performance
The MIX Flip is equipped with the third-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform to ensure high performance. It is equipped with a 4780mAh Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery and supports fast charging at 67W, giving users more time and faster recharging.
Advanced Camera System
If one enjoys photography, then MIX Flip has highlighted a 50MP Leica main camera and a 50MP Leica floating telephoto lens capable of fitting 2X floating focus. Even more, the camera system lends multi-angle hovering photography support; for the sake of taking gorgeous selfies, there is built-in support of a 32MP front-facing lens.
Accessories
Xiaomi also launched two accessory products for the MIX Flip: Ring-shaped changeable protective case: Priced at 129 yuan (18 USD), it allows users to insert cards to change the pattern of the phone case. MIX Flip Portable Camera Set: 499 yuan (69 USD) This accessory prints photos directly from the phone.
Global Launch is Later
Xiaomi added a post at the event stating that it will only be sold in China and that sales in other regions will take place later. We know that the Xiaomi MIX Flip will definitely hit the global market. But it will happen later.
The new design, forceful performance, diverse features, and newer starting price of 5,999 yuan (825 USD) set Xiaomi MIX Flip to give the small foldable phone a new benchmark. As usual, Xiaomi is again ahead of the game in mobile technology—compact and efficient devices custom-made for modern needs.
