Xiaomi just dropped official pics of the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max

Xiaomi has just rolled out the covers on the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, and they’re making a clear statement with this launch. Two fresh colors debut with the lineup: Forest Green—a subtle nod to those who appreciate a bit of distinction—and Cold Smoke Purple, which stands out without being over the top. One of the major talking points is the new “Magic Back Screen.” This isn’t just an afterthought; Xiaomi’s invested heavily to ensure that this secondary display is just as refined as the main one. It uses the same advanced luminous materials and is protected by Dragon Crystal glass, so both durability and a premium user experience are front and center.

The design language takes a leap forward with an ultra-elliptical “R-angle” shape and an impressively slim 1.18mm bezel. Essentially, you’re getting the largest possible display area without sacrificing the phone’s form factor.

Focused on Performance and Innovation

On the performance side, Xiaomi is setting a benchmark. The 17 series is the first globally to feature Qualcomm’s fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition. Expect high speed, robust performance, and enough power for both professional and personal applications. The launch event is locked in for September 25th, 7 PM (China time).

Lu Weibing, Xiaomi’s Group President, highlighted another technical advance: an L-shaped battery for the Pro series. This new battery architecture is designed to make the most of internal space, promising enhanced capacity. Specifics on actual size and performance metrics are still under wraps, but it’s positioned as a clear differentiator.

  • Xiaomi 17 Pro: Marketed as Xiaomi’s most advanced small-size imaging flagship.
  • Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: Positioned as the company’s most powerful flagship to date.
  • Xiaomi 17 (standard): Still boasts flagship performance, and serves as Xiaomi’s global offer for this series.

For now, the 17 Pro and Pro Max will be available exclusively in China, which appears to be Xiaomi’s strategy for keeping its most cutting-edge technology within its domestic market first. Meanwhile, the standard 17 brings robust flagship capabilities to international customers.
