Xiaomi HyperOS 2 is now displays battery percentage information

In a major development for Xiaomi users, the company has silently rolled out detailed battery health statistics on its devices, first starting with the recently launched POCO X7 Pro. This is a first for Xiaomi smartphones that will finally give users a deep dive into their device’s battery condition.

New Battery Health Features

For its part, POCO X7 Pro, which was released to the market a few days ago, brings extensive battery information available via settings through the menu option entitled Battery Protection. Now you can see:

  • Percentage of Battery Health
  • Current percentage of battery capacity
  • Battery manufacturing date
  • First use date

A Departure from Previous Models

This development marks quite an improvement by Xiaomi over how the company traditionally offers battery health information. Devices in MIUI 12 from Xiaomi have to date been restricted to displaying generalized terms of ‘good,’ ‘bad,’ or sometimes ‘awesome’; a very unscientific delivery of what one is expected from, and to learn about their batteries.

Market Impact and User Response

Detailed battery statistics are a strategic addition by Xiaomi, considering how much iPhone users love their battery health monitoring. Indeed, the display of battery health statistics has long been one of the most used features in the Apple ecosystem, with many users going in regularly to check their device’s battery health to assess just how much it has degraded over time.

Silent Implementation

Curiously, Xiaomi did not announce this increase in feature capabilities, but the users found it while playing with their new POCO X7 Pro and subsequently created a buzz in the Xiaomi community. Such a silent release could hint that the company is testing the waters before rolling out the feature to other models.

More detailed statistics on battery health show the effort of Xiaomi in giving more transparency to its users, at least on performance and longevity. Such an update can change the purchasing decisions of users based on which one serves more for a longer-lasting life of batteries in smartphones or at least taking more care of battery health in smartphones.

They are following Apple. Purposely implement this feature so that battery sales will sky rocket. Example battery health drop to 70%, then purposely makes our phones lag. Then reason it out because we need to change new battery so that phone will go back to normal. Boomm!!! instant money. Wtfffffffff
