Xiaomi HyperOS 2 brings the Super XiaoAi Assistant

In October 2024, Xiaomi announced a big update for its operating system: the new HyperOS 2. Along with this update will come great improvements, one of which is an intelligent AI assistant feature labeled Super Xiao Ai. For now, the first internal test of Super Xiao Ai has begun and will have select users with the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 14 series. Here is everything you’d want to know about Super Xiao Ai: its features, upgrade details, and how users can join the internal beta below.

What is Super Xiao AI?

Super Xiao Ai is an upgraded AI assistant for seamless integration across the HyperOS ecosystem by Xiaomi. Based on the latest operating system, namely HyperOS 2, Super Xiao Ai aims to be a holistic ecosystem-wide smart assistant to seamlessly link users to all types of devices, including smartphones, cars, and smart home devices within the Xiaomi ecosystem. This AI-powered smart assistant envisions personalized, real-time, and proactive intelligence for users.

Logo and Design Inspiration

The structure of the Super Xiao Ai logo is built based on a galaxy; four cantilevers stretch out from the center to form the shape of the logo, which reflects the design ethos of HyperOS. This reflects Xiaomi’s vision of making “a full ecosystem of people, cars, and homes” and positioning Super Xiao Ai as the central intelligence that orchestrates multiple devices and information flows.

It underscores Xiaomi’s commitment to allowing the user to be at the very core of its ecosystem in terms of responsive and intelligent services to daily life.

Key Features of Super Xiao Ai

When HyperOS 2 launches, Super Xiao Ai users can look forward to several enhanced capabilities:

  1. Voice Assistant of Advanced Level: Super Xiao AI is still using the wake-up word “Xiao Ai,” while being upgraded with features that make it wiser and interact more complexly with users.
  2. Focus Notifications: Super Xiao Ai will introduce the feature of focus notifications to proactively notify users about urgent or important messages so as not to miss critical information.
  3. Integration with HyperMind and Xiao Ai: Super Xiao Ai also integrates Xiaomi’s Hypermind and suggestion features that are displayed for users to offer them timely and intelligent reminders of what they may want to do, based on the user’s activities and preferences.
  4. Portal Integration: Besides all this, Xiaomi plans to integrate the Portal feature with Super Xiao Ai, which will provide direct access to different tools and services through a single interface.
  5. AI Assistant for Smart Ecosystem: This places it in the right position to manage and control Xiaomi’s connected devices in transition-either at home or work and even to a journey’s end.

First Internal Beta Testing and Eligibility

The first version of Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2, which is currently running on the Xiaomi 15 series, does not feature Super Xiao Ai as a pre-installed feature. Users have to wait for an official OTA update. However, Xiaomi has started an internal beta testing program for Super Xiao Ai, in which selected users can try out the assistant before a full rollout.

XiaoAI is weird, some people might dislike it. I prefer to call it HyperAI instead.
