Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 brings new design for the settings app

With the coming of HyperOS 2.0, Xiaomi will change its Settings menu design once again. Now, it was leaked last July that the new HyperOS 2.0 would be adopting a section-by-section card design for the settings interface. However, recent insights from the Xiaomi Pad almost hint that this might not sport a card design universally.

Changes in the Design of the Settings Menu

This will go a bit different from the Settings menu on the Xiaomi Pad. Instead of getting the full card-style layout, the background for the settings will turn light grey, while the sections in the settings themselves get plastered with white backgrounds and finished with a grey border. It’s this subtle change that gives it quite a fresh and organized look without fully committing to a card-based design.

This new design departs significantly from the settings menu, which has not changed much since the MIUI 10 generation. Taking into consideration that it is coming with HyperOS 2.0, this is where Xiaomi seems to try and provide a cleaner and newer-looking interface for better user experience through better visual segmentation. These images are from the Xiaomi HyperOS Android 15 Beta.

Different Designs for Different Devices?

It is not yet clear whether the newly seen design is tablet-specific or a different layout will also be applied to mobile devices. These changes could perhaps indicate that Xiaomi is looking into totally different designs for other form factors. For example, tablets could retain the simpler design without cards, and new card-styled layout would appear in smartphones. Further differentiation on these fronts can improve the user experience on both types of devices due to their distinctly larger screen size and patterns of user interaction.

Estimated Release

HyperOS 2.0 is arriving this October, with a lot of new features and design changes. This is one of many rumored updates for the Settings app; users are excited about how Xiaomi will take its OS further to be at par with other major players in the market. Closer to the launch date, more information will come out and help draw a bigger picture of what can be expected from HyperOS 2.0. Ambient sounds, new setting menu design, or any other advanced features—there is no halt by Xiaomi in terms of surprising and upgrading according to users’ needs to make interaction with its gadgets vivid and engaging.

Guys, would be better to take a look at workstation mode on pad 6 series. I’m sorry to say that but I don’t see any use of it and any difference between “home screen” and “workstation mode”. And also HyperOS is very laggy. The first thing that I was disappointed was its OS. There are very few features and doesn’t even make sense…
    Thanks.

Before HyperOS we could see how much battery was left in a connected Bluetooth device without having to go all the way to the depths of config. Bring that back.
