Xiaomi Gallery Editor gets major update for all HyperOS Devices

Xiaomi has officially announced that the new version of its Photo Editor application has entered internal testing within the Xiaomi Community, bringing significant improvements and expanded device compatibility. The announcement came directly from Xiaomi Camera Product Manager @Bao_小李, who detailed the adaptation status and exciting new features coming to HyperOS users. This comprehensive update represents one of the most substantial overhauls to Xiaomi’s photo editing capabilities, introducing enhanced functionality that will benefit millions of users across the Xiaomi ecosystem. The new version promises to deliver a more streamlined editing experience while maintaining the powerful tools that users have come to expect from Xiaomi’s photography suite.

Device Compatibility and Rollout

The updated Xiaomi Photo Editor will support all devices running HyperOS 1.0 and 2.0, with confirmed compatibility starting from the Xiaomi 10 series. Supported devices include:

  • Xiaomi 10 series and newer models
  • Xiaomi MIX Fold foldable devices
  • Xiaomi Pad 5 series tablets
  • Redmi Note 11 series
  • Redmi K40 series
  • Redmi 12 series

When asked about first-generation Civi compatibility, the product manager confirmed it will be available later than the Xiaomi 10 series release, indicating a phased rollout approach. To get new update, follow our System App Updates page.

Key Feature Improvements

Enhanced User Interface

The new version introduces a much-requested light mode option, providing better visibility in bright environments. Users can now choose between dark mode, light mode, or system-following appearance through the “More” section’s appearance settings.

Streamlined Functionality

Xiaomi has restructured the app’s interactive architecture to improve efficiency. The most frequently used functions including cropping, adjustment, filters, watermarks, text, and graffiti have been consolidated into one or two navigation levels, significantly reducing the time needed to switch between different editing tools.

New Mark Function

A standout addition is the comprehensive “Mark” function that combines previously separate tools including text, signatures, mosaics, graffiti, and stickers into a single interface. This unified approach allows users to complete all marking-related operations from one centralized location.

Improved Filter Experience

The filter system has received notable upgrades with enhanced preview capabilities. Users can now see original image comparisons alongside filter effects in thumbnail previews, making it easier to evaluate different looks before applying them. Additionally, favorite filters can be saved by long-pressing, creating a personalized collection.

Expanded Watermark Options

Xiaomi has merged watermark and photo frame functionalities while bringing REDMI series film watermarks to Xiaomi devices, providing users with significantly more customization options for their edited photos.
