Xiaomi revealed that the green-tinged image output issue was found in the Xiaomi 17 smartphones that use HyperOS 3.0.32.0. The bug was noticed to mainly affect image captures made through certain modes, such as the combination of white balance and High Dynamic Range imaging. Although the bug is only intermittent for certain users, internal testing conducted at Xiaomi indicated the bug could cause problems with image color accuracy, an aspect that is very important for flagship smartphones.
The good news is that the problem is only related to the software and there’s no involvement of the camera hardware. According to the clarification, users who are experiencing this issue are not required to send back their devices for any repairs or replacements. Xiaomi has confirmed that the following correction for the issue of generating green-shot photographs will be provided as part of an upcoming HyperOS update. Alongside this correction, Xiaomi is also likely going to provide some minor bug fixes based on user responses given through their respective feedback platforms.
