Xiaomi finally resolves slow charging problems

Xiaomi has released its weekly bug report to address the persistent slow charging problems that have been plaguing some Redmi phones that utilize HyperOS 2. The news brings relief to affected users who have been suffering from frustrating battery charging problems on their otherwise excellent Redmi Note series phones.

Xiaomi engineers pinpointed the sources of the issue based on the official report and are already applying fixes to the Redmi Note 12S as well as the Redmi Note 13 5G models. The move is a testament to Xiaomi’s ongoing commitment to software optimization and addressing user problems through regular updates and bug fixes.

Redmi Note 12S Charging Issues

The first device mentioned in the report is the Redmi Note 12S that has been experiencing overall slow charging. The bug is observed on the devices that run HyperOS version OS2.0.2.0.VHZMIXM.

Current status information

  • Problem: Slow charging performance
  • Vulnerable version: OS2.0.2.0.VHZMIXM
  • Status now: Under consideration

Xiaomi’s engineering team is currently investigating the underlying causes of this issue. While no immediate fix is available, the company has prioritized this problem and promises to deliver a solution in an upcoming update.

Redmi Note 13 5G Other Serious Problems

The Redmi Note 13 5G has more severe charging problems, including both charging speeds and being unable to charge the battery to 100%. The problem exists on a number of regional versions of the phone.

Version history of the impacted versions

  • OS2.0.2.0.VNQMIXM (Global)
  • OS2.0.1.0.VNQIDXM (Indonesia)
  • OS2.0.1.0.VNQTWXM (Taiwan)

The good news is that Xiaomi has already come up with a solution to these issues. The solution, the report says, will come as part of the upcoming OTA update that will arrive soon. Customers are advised to look out for system update notifications.

What the User Must Do

While the users wait for the official fixes, the Redmi Note 12S and Redmi Note 13 5G users experiencing charging issues can try the following temporary fixes:

Use the original charging adapter and cable

  • Clean the charging port gently to remove debris
  • Turn off battery optimization on essential apps
  • Don’t use the device when charging
  • Try charging the device while powered off

These temporary solutions may help alleviate the charging problems until the proper solutions are implemented. Xiaomi advises users to keep checking for system updates and install them as and when they are available. The firm’s timely response to these charging issues is a sign of its dedication to delivering a seamless user experience on its wide-ranging product portfolio.
