Lei Jun highlighted that Xiaomi’s breakthrough in the EV industry has been one of the company’s greatest achievements in recent years. Since its EV launch last year, Xiaomi has delivered over 135,000 electric vehicles in just 9 months, setting an industry record. Currently, orders for Xiaomi EVs are booked 6 to 7 months in advance, demonstrating strong market demand.
Lei Jun emphasized that the success of Xiaomi’s EV business has injected powerful momentum into the company’s overall growth. He stated that Xiaomi will increase its investment in the EV sector, drive technological innovation, and upgrade products to further solidify its market position.
Xiaomi’s Massive R&D Investment
In addition to EV advancements, Lei Jun stressed the importance of confidence and R&D investment in overcoming challenges. He noted that companies must trust China’s technological innovation capabilities and market potential. To support this, Xiaomi has planned a massive ¥105 billion investment in core technology R&D from 2021 to 2025. In 2025 alone, Xiaomi will invest ¥30 billion in scientific research, significantly enhancing its competitiveness.
