Xiaomi has officially shelved plans to launch the anticipated 15 Civi smartphone in India. In a notable shift, the company is doubling down on its premium segment ambitions, moving away from the mid-premium slot that’s been their bread and butter for years.
The Xiaomi 15 Civi (known as the Civi 5 Pro in China) debuted in May 2025 with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset and aggressive pricing—around $415 in China, sometimes less with discounts. Indian consumers, however, won’t see this device on local shelves.
This strategic withdrawal leaves a gap in the crucial ₹35,000–₹45,000 ($415–$535) price band, an area that’s seen significant growth and consumer interest in recent years. It’s a calculated risk, considering the previous Xiaomi 14 Civi (the Civi 4 Pro in China) found strong success in India, thanks largely to its Leica-branded camera system and premium features that resonated with aspirational buyers.
Xiaomi’s new strategy is clear: streamline offerings, invest in high-end flagships, and sharpen its competitive edge against established premium brands in the Indian market. The company is betting on a focused portfolio and premium positioning to solidify its presence in higher price brackets.
For Xiaomi enthusiasts looking to unlock more features and stay updated with system enhancements, the MemeOS Enhancer app remains available on the Play Store.
