Xiaomi bringing iconic Leica shutter sounds to all partner models

Xiaomi is taking the photography experience on its Leica-assisted devices to the next level with an exciting feature update that is bringing genuine sounds of the camera to millions of users. The photography team at Xiaomi has announced the roll-out of unique Leica shutter sounds to all Leica partner devices in the upcoming maintenance phase. This feature update follows the success of the introduction of these sounds on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra earlier in the year, which was praised for attention to genuine photography detail and immersive camera experience.

The statement came from Bao, product manager in the camera team at Xiaomi, who offered insights on the inspiration and user needs behind every shutter click. The update is included as part of Xiaomi’s effort to provide premium photography experiences by combining the best technology with timeless photography techniques that photography fans appr eciate.

Iconic Leica Sounds Now Available

The new sound effect bundle offers four different selections, each taken from historical Leica cameras:

Mechanical: Adapted from the Leica M6, this setting (now employed by 18.8% of shooters) mimics the genuine shutter sound of the classic rangefinder camera. For exposures of greater than 0.4 seconds, you’ll perceive an emulated mechanical motor noise as you finish out the retro feel.
Classic: According to the Leica M9’s characteristic click (most favored by 16% of users), there is short, fixed-length simulation of mechanical processing sounds in this option.
Default: Emulates the legendary shutter click of the Leica M3, which is now favored by 15% of photographers on Xiaomi devices.
Modern: Emulates the modern shutter noise of the Leica M10, which 14% of users selected for its well-balanced audio signature.

The update is to be rolled out in two stages on Xiaomi’s wide range of compatible devices:

This feature is one of the new minimalist camera experience features that were introduced with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra during the joint launching of the phone with the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra earlier this year. The minimalist camera interface is centered on delivering the basic photography features in an uncluttered experience.

The users can guarantee receiving this and other HyperOS update packages by downloading the HyperOSUpdates.com app or by getting the MemeOS Enhancer app from the Play Store. The MemeOS app offers other advantages, too, such as access to secret features on Xiaomi devices, updating system applications, and the capability to check for update packages on the screen itself.
