Xiaomi begins testing of Android 16 on certain models

In an interesting twist of events for Xiaomi owners, the company secretly began testing the latest version of Android 16 on selected flagship devices back in January 2025. The testing is being done with the company’s latest flagship devices: the Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 15 Pro, and Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro, the first of the devices to have the next version of Android installed on them.

Initial Test Phase

Testing is being carried out with the newest Xiaomi custom skin of HyperOS 2.1. Redmi K devices, the Turbo devices, and the Xiaomi 14 devices are significantly omitted from the testing at this moment, with a prioritized approach to the newest flagship devices first being suggested.
