Xiaomi aims for global rollout of cars by 2027

At MWC 2025, Xiaomi stunned the audience by announcing the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, marking its European debut. The move reaffirmed Xiaomi’s ambition to take the electric vehicle (EV) market globally. Lu Weibing, Xiaomi Group president and partner, formally confirmed in a CCTV CGTN exclusive interview that Xiaomi is working diligently to prepare for Xiaomi cars’ global launch, with 2027 as its timeline. The ambitious announcement got Xiaomi fans and the automotive world buzzing, anticipating a major twist in the company’s global strategy.

Xiaomi’s Global Car Ambitions

Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra stole the limelight at MWC 2025 with its futuristic design and high-end technology. Lu Weibing, on Weibo, pointed out the significance of this feat, “The European debut of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has stirred up a huge shock! Preparations are already underway for the launch of Xiaomi overseas. The pressure is truly enormous, but we will do our best!”

During Xiaomi’s global launch of the Xiaomi 15 series in Barcelona, Spain, Lu Weibing outlined the company’s expansion plans beyond smartphones. According to him, Xiaomi will not just bring its flagship phone series to international markets but will also venture into large household appliances. More importantly, he reiterated Xiaomi’s commitment to selling EVs globa lly in the near future.
