Xiaomi 18 Pro to feature dual 200MP in a compact body

A massive leak from the renowned tech tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo has just shed light on Xiaomi’s next-generation flagship plans. According to the exclusive information, Xiaomi is currently evaluating a 6.3-inch small-screen device that packs a mind-bending camera configuration: Dual 200MP sensors.

Based on Xiaomi’s recent strategy shift, all signs point to this device being the Xiaomi 18 Pro.

Dual 200MP: A First for Compact Flagships

The most shocking part of the leak is the camera hardware being tested. The prototype features:

  • 200MP Main Camera

  • 200MP Telephoto (Periscope) Camera

Packing two massive 200MP sensors into a compact 6.3-inch body is an engineering feat. If this configuration makes it to the final production unit, the Xiaomi 18 Pro could offer unrivaled zoom capabilities and detail preservation in the “compact flagship” market, potentially outperforming much larger competitors.

The “Small & Big” Strategy Continues

This leak confirms that Xiaomi is sticking to the successful dual-flagship strategy introduced with the Xiaomi 17 series.

  • Xiaomi 17 Pro: Introduced as the “Small” flagship.

  • Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: Introduced as the “Large” flagship.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro appears to be the direct successor to the “Small” model, maintaining the ergonomic ~6.3-inch form factor while refusing to compromise on “Ultra-level” hardware.

Why This Matters

Historically, “Mini” or “Base” models often get downgraded cameras compared to their “Ultra” or “Max” siblings (e.g., lacking a high-resolution periscope). However, if Xiaomi equips the 6.3-inch 18 Pro with a 200MP Periscope Telephoto lens, it effectively kills the compromise between “portability” and “ultimate performance.”
