Emir BardakçıAccording to a recent leak shared by the reputable blogger @DigitalChatStation, Xiaomi’s upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to feature groundbreaking imaging hardware — including a multispectral sensor, a zoom flash, and for the first time, a physical zoom mechanism. Reports suggest that the “Super Ultra” version will boast this physical zoom feature exclusively, marking a major leap in smartphone photography innovation. The device is said to continue Xiaomi’s long-standing partnership with Leica, promising another major milestone for the company’s imaging technology.
Revolutionary Camera Design and Build
Early engineering photos affirm that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may sport a gigantic round central camera deco, which houses a humongous periscope lens in the upper half. The back panel is tipped to use a fiberglass material, whose advantages include high-end texture and light weight. The screen is reported to maintain a flat four-sided equal-width arrangement, as in previous “large” models of the Xiaomi 17 series.
Color options are classic black, trendy white, and an unusual purple finish. Interestingly, one of the prototype leaks appears to resemble a professional-level camera, with Xiaomi obviously setting out to merge phone and camera design more than ever before.
Advanced Imaging Capabilities
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also reported to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, alongside an increased 50MP ultra-large primary sensor. The sensor reportedly supports In-Sensor Zoom (ISZ) and can be effortlessly employed with the periscope lens for lossless focal length transitions. The new periscope lens is reportedly equipped with a 200MP sensor and 4×4 RMSC technology, enabling multi-focal-length zoom and telephoto macro capability.
Both new lenses promise higher dynamic range, enhanced optical depth, and precise focusing, creating a visual experience that Xiaomi describes as “revolutionary and camera-level.”
