The Xiaomi 17 Global has finally popped up in the GSMA IMEI database, with its official global model name revealed to be Xiaomi 17. Previously, no model designation was being displayed, but today the entry has been amended confirming the global launch is imminent. You can also follow other Xiaomi-related listings on HyperOSUpdates.com or receive future device software version leaks through the MemeOS Enhancer app.
Currently, several HyperOS 3 internal test builds from different regions have been released, which reflects the ongoing process of software optimization:
- Russia: OS3.0.0.2.WPCRUXM
- Indonesia: OS3.0.0.3.WPCIDXM
- India: OS3.0.0.11.WPCINXM
- Taiwan: OS3.0.0.2.WPCTWXM
- Global: OS3.0.0.12.WPCMIXM
- EEA (Europe): OS3.0.0.10.WPCEUXM
What These Internal Builds Indicate
These versions represent the initial testing phase of the firmware. According to Xiaomi’s software release policy, ROMs below version OS3.0.1.0 are not ready for public release. This means that while the internal testing has started globally, the stable update rollout is still under preparation.
Consequently, the Xiaomi 17 series is least likely to release in October. Given the software advancements so far, a release period of November or December seems more plausible for international markets.
Specifications of the Xiaomi 17
First launched in China on September 25, the Xiaomi 17 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, providing top-tier performance and better power efficiency. The phone will have a 6.3-inch AMOLED display, continuing the compact design trend from the earlier generation.
Still, due to EU regulatory battery limitations, the world version will only be able to fit a 6300 mAh battery and not the 7000 mAh of the Chinese version. The phone comes with 100W fast charging, which will allow for quick recharging no matter the lower capacity of the battery.
With the IMEI registration finally done and internal HyperOS testing underway, Xiaomi 17 is officially on course for a global launch shortly. The landmark has reaffirmed that Xiaomi is in earnest regarding quicker international rollouts, bridging the gap between Chinese and worldwide launches from previous years.
