Xiaomi 16 series leaked with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5

Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil its 16 series, and there’s genuine anticipation in the tech community—rightfully so, considering the debut of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 processor. This marks Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip, and Xiaomi’s not wasting any time being first out of the gate. The launch is expected for late September (think the 24th to 26th window), aligning neatly with the rollout of HyperOS 3, which suggests some intentional integration between hardware and software.

Let’s talk displays: both the standard and Pro models will feature 6.3-inch 1.5K screens with impressively slim bezels, coming in at just 1.1 to 1.2mm. For context, that’s even thinner than the Xiaomi 15’s 1.38mm—an incremental but meaningful improvement. The Ultra model ups the ante with a 6.85-inch 2K curved display for those who want maximum real estate. All models utilize advanced LIPO packaging technology to achieve these ultra-thin bezels, reflecting Xiaomi’s ongoing commitment to premium design and engineering.

Battery life has been addressed as well; the standard Xiaomi 16 now boasts a 6800mAh capacity, with 100W fast charging still in play. That means users can rely on all-day performance and rapid top-ups—a solid proposition for professionals on the go.

Audio isn’t an afterthought, either. The integration of Nokia’s OZO Audio brings features like 360-degree spatial recording, audio zoom, wind noise reduction, and background noise suppression. These additions elevate the device’s content creation and conferencing capabilities.

From a design standpoint, the Xiaomi 16 series refines its predecessor’s look and feel, with subtle updates to ergonomics and protection, particularly with the adoption of flat screens across the standard and Pro models.

Software is a focal point too. The simultaneous launch of HyperOS 3 is designed to leverage the new chipset’s strengths, providing advanced features, optimizations, and a seamless user experience. For those seeking even more functionality, the MemeOS Enhancer app is available via the Play Store, offering access to additional features and system optimization tools.
