Xiaomi’s highly anticipated flagship, the Xiaomi 15, is set to launch globally, but recent leaks suggest that there is a slight difference in the battery capacity of the global model compared to that of the Chinese model. According to tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, the global model of the Xiaomi 15 will be equipped with a 5240mAh battery, whereas the Chinese model contains a 5400mAh battery. Apart from this minor reduction, all the other specs remain the same for the global model.
Battery Capacity Difference: What It Means for Users
The 160mAh reduction in battery capacity may not be significant, but it could have a slight impact on overall battery life. That being said, Xiaomi’s optimizations in HyperOS 2 and the power efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset should still give users all-day battery life. The 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support remains the same, so fast charging speeds will remain the same.
Xiaomi 15 Global Model: Full Specifications
Aside from the battery capacity difference, the global Xiaomi 15 retains the identical flagship specs of the China version, including:
- 6.36-inch TCL M9 OLED LTPO display with 2670×1200 resolution, 1-120Hz refresh rate, and 3200 nits peak brightness.
- Snapdragon 8 Elite for flagship-grade performance.
- 50MP main sensor with OIS.
- 50MP ultra-wide lens.
- 50MP 2.6x telephoto lens with OIS and macro capability.
- Xiaomi Ceramic Glass 2.0 for added durability.
- IP68 dust and water resistance.
- Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader.
- Dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
- 5240mAh battery (Global) vs 5400mAh battery (China).
- 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.
Why the Decrease in Battery Capacity?
Although Xiaomi has not publicly addressed the battery size difference, it is likely due to regulatory requirements, supply chain constraints, or internal design revisions for different markets. Some of Xiaomi’s previous models have also seen small differences between their global and Chinese versions, usually without impacting everyday usage. Xiaomi has recently made battery downsizing in the POCO X7 Pro and POCO F7 series.
Global Availability and Launch
Xiaomi is said to announce the Xiaomi 15 series global launch on March 2, 2025, ahead of MWC 2025. Pre-orders are expected to commence soon after the official launch, with sales commencing in key markets such as Europe, India, and Southeast Asia.
In spite of the 160mAh drop in battery capacity, the global version of Xiaomi 15 still has all the high-end features that make it a flagship killer. With its state-of-the-art display, high-end Leica camera system, and lightning-fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, it is still one of the most highly awaited phones of 2025. With Xiaomi gearing up for the global launch, fans across the globe are waiting with bated breath to lay their hands on this powerhouse of a phone.
