According to tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, the global model of the Xiaomi 15 will be equipped with a 5240mAh battery, whereas the Chinese model contains a 5400mAh battery. Apart from this minor reduction, all the other specs remain the same for the global model.
Battery Capacity Difference: What It Means for Users
The 160mAh reduction in battery capacity may not be significant, but it could have a slight impact on overall battery life. That being said, Xiaomi’s optimizations in HyperOS 2 and the power efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset should still give users all-day battery life. The 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support remains the same, so fast charging speeds will remain the same.

Why the Decrease in Battery Capacity?
Although Xiaomi has not publicly addressed the battery size difference, it is likely due to regulatory requirements, supply chain constraints, or internal design revisions for different markets. Some of Xiaomi’s previous models have also seen small differences between their global and Chinese versions, usually without impacting everyday usage. Xiaomi has recently made battery downsizing in the POCO X7 Pro and POCO F7 series.

Xiaomi is said to announce the Xiaomi 15 series global launch on March 2, 2025, ahead of MWC 2025. Pre-orders are expected to commence soon after the official launch, with sales commencing in key markets such as Europe, India, and Southeast Asia.
