Xiaomi 15 Ultra dominates camera comparison against rivals

Xiaomi’s upcoming 15 series is making headlines in the premium smartphone segment, particularly for its camera capabilities. In a recent imaging assessment organized by Meizu Technology—dubbed the “Meizu 22 Imaging Training Summer Camp”—the Xiaomi 15 Ultra emerged as a clear leader in low-light telephoto photography, outpacing major competitors in a challenging, real-world test environment.

Leading Brands Compete for Imaging Excellence

The comparison brought together a lineup of flagship models: vivo X200 Pro mini, vivo X200 Ultra, Huawei Pura80 Ultra, OPPO Find X8s, OPPO Find X8 Ultra, and both the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra. By evaluating these devices side by side, the event provided valuable insight into each brand’s strengths within demanding use cases.

Superior Performance in Architectural Low-Light Scenarios

The core of the assessment focused on telephoto shots of architectural subjects in low-light conditions—a notoriously difficult challenge. Here, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra stood out for its ability to capture crisp detail, control noise levels, and maintain accurate color reproduction. These results highlight Xiaomi’s progress in computational photography and sensor technology, reinforcing its position as an innovator in mobile imaging.

Technology Driving the Difference

Xiaomi’s 15 series demonstrates the brand’s commitment to integrating advanced imaging solutions. Enhanced night mode, improved telephoto zoom, and sophisticated image processing algorithms all contribute to a superior photography experience. These developments are designed to appeal to users who prioritize camera performance in their purchasing decisions.

Market Outlook and User Impact

Although the Xiaomi 15 series is not yet available for purchase, its strong performance in these competitive comparisons underscores the brand’s confidence. Xiaomi is positioning itself as a leader in mobile imaging, signaling to consumers and industry observers that its upcoming release will be a significant contender in the flagship market.

For current users aiming to maximize their Xiaomi device’s camera features, the MemeOS Enhancer app—available via the Play Store—offers access to advanced shooting modes and system-level enhancements.

“Although the Xiaomi 15 series is not yet available for purchase..” Dude you’re definitely from a different timeline.
Also I wouldn’t call Xiaomi the clear winner here. Compared to the Vivo and Oppo Ultra it looks rather blurry. Just look at the ornaments in that window frame. They clearly look more plastic and crisp on the Vivo and Oppo. Huawei has some weird tint that is somewhat surprising. And Meizu does a decent job on the sky.

    This is quite a conincidence.

While I have been thinking how to address the image quaility issues of MI 15 Ultra, this article popped up.

I have had MI 15 ULtra for few months now and after 3 trips/photography opportunities, I can conclude that the camera is way too substandard for the price. Even my old MI 11 ULtra was better than this.

    a) It can’t manage the exposures well often over exposing the highlights or under exposing the shadows.
    b) HDR doesn’t work.
    c) Can’t get the focus right.
    d) Photography attachment acts as a power drain instead of charging the phone batter. It is surprising – whenever I attached the hand-grip (with fully charged), the phone would drain the battery much faster than without the grip and it would get hotter.

Unfortunately, the service center will not understand ANYTHING when you say the image quality is poor. Not sure who can help.
