These unveiled products are such as the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra phones, the Xiaomi Pad 7 series of devices, and the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro at the launch conference. Xiaomi announced more at the launch conference apart from the new devices’ hardware.
Xiaomi officially announced that the company flagships are receiving extended software support. The Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra devices are receiving the advantage of 6 years of updates for assured prolonged use and safety for the customers. Besides that, the Xiaomi Pad 7 series of devices are receiving 3 years of software updates.
Xiaomi 15 Series To Be Updated up To Android 21!
Following the incident, Xiaomi updated the official End of Life (EOL) support page. According to the latest information:
- Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra are getting the newest software updates until March 2031
- Xiaomi Pad 7 and Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro are promised up to March 2028 for updates
This suggests that the Xiaomi 15 lineup should be receiving the final big update with Android 20 or Android 21 and the Xiaomi Pad 7 lineup should be ending with Android 17 or Android 18. The prolonged support of the devices suggests that the customers shall be enjoying the new feature additions and the security patch for a longer period of time.
Xiaomi’s Update Policy Gives It A Competitive Advantage
In the recent years, Xiaomi has refined its update policy by leaps and bounds. Samsung and Google now offer up to 7 years of updates but Xiaomi 6-year support is still competitive. Apart from that, with HyperOS, Xiaomi phones are more optimized and robust year by year.
Such a move by Xiaomi helps the customers keep the devices safe and up-to-date for more years while enriching the secondary market for Xiaomi phones by raising the devices’ resale value.
