Emir BardakçıXiaomi is going to launch the last significant update for some of the 11 series smartphones, which is a significant point in the software support cycle of these devices. HyperOS 2 with Android 14 is going to be released for the international as well as the China versions of the devices in the series. The Xiaomi 11 series will receive its last update in March, according to the Xiaomi EOL list. When we look at the update plan, the last update for these devices will be HyperOS 2 based on Android 14.
Eligible Devices
The following models of the Xiaomi 11 series will receive the HyperOS 2 update based on Android 14 in March:
- Xiaomi 11
- Xiaomi 11 Pro
- Xiaomi 11 Ultra
- Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE
The Xiaomi 11T and Xiaomi 11T Pro will also receive the HyperOS 2 Android 14 update, but testing has not started yet.
Update Details
The final update is being finalized with the version number being OS2.0.0.7, with the final release being OS2.0.1.0. This update is the transition from the HyperOS to HyperOS 2, with the functionality of Android 14 being brought to these devices. Global and China updates will be released in same period.
End of Life Announcement
Unfortunately, some of the devices from the Xiaomi 11 series have reached the end-of-life point with the MIUI 14 operating system running Android 13:
- Xiaomi 11 Lite 4G
- Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G
These devices won’t be receiving the HyperOS 2 update but will be stuck with their current software. Xiaomi 11 will receive the HyperOS 2 Android 14 update, even though the update lifecycle is reported to end in December 2024.
What It Impies for Users
For users of the qualified devices, the last update is the final major software update they can expect. Though there can be periodic security updates for a long period of time, the end of major feature upgrades is here for the Xiaomi 11 series.
