When will Android 15 be released for Xiaomi devices?

Android enthusiasts, and Xiaomi users in particular, are eager to see Android 15. Although the official launching of the stable version of Android 15 has not yet started, its source code was published by Google on September 3, 2024. At the moment, Android 15 QRP1 beta is running on Google devices, and this year-just like in previous years-the event announcing its official release is expected to take place next month, in October.

Currently, Xiaomi has already started beta testing Android 15 on several of its flagships. It’s currently testing Android 15 on the Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 13T series, and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4. Once Android 15 might be officially released by Google, then Xiaomi will probably follow up with the official update and distribute it to users so that they can get access to the latest features and enhancements that are available in the Android 15 operating system.

Given that HyperOS 2.0 is also expected to be unveiled in October 2024, it is most likely that Xiaomi could add Android 15 into the new HyperOS. After all, Xiaomi has delayed updates such as MIUI 14 based on Android 14 earlier in order to launch newer interface versions, so this wouldn’t be surpassed if Android 15 were launched with the HyperOS 2.0. Xiaomi has released the Android 14-based MIUI 14 update only to its devices that received the Beta Android 14 update.

In fact, it would make all kinds of sense from a user experience standpoint if Xiaomi releases Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0. That would mean for the first time, Xiaomi can launch a new operating system while changing and upgrading the user interface at the same time. As such, this may also mean an update to Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0 for Xiaomi devices, which should provide the best and full-package experience.

While instructive of the exact date of its official release, all indications are that Android 15 may start arriving on Xiaomi devices starting from October 2024, coinciding with the release of HyperOS 2.0. Meanwhile, an optimized experience may very well offer the newest Android version in addition to a major interface update.
