Vivo X300 Ultra 200MP main camera details revealed ahead of launch

Vivo recently showcased its upcoming camera-focused flagship at Mobile World Congress 2026, giving attendees a glimpse of its advanced photography ambitions. While the company did not reveal the full design of the phone, it did highlight an impressive 400mm ZEISS teleconverter lens, hinting at the device’s powerful imaging capabilities.

Now, new information has surfaced revealing key details about the Vivo X300 Ultra 200MP main camera, which is expected to be one of the most advanced smartphone camera systems yet.

According to Vivo executive Han Boxiao, the primary camera of the upcoming flagship will use a brand-new Sony LYTIA-901 sensor. This means the sensor will make its global debut with the device, further emphasizing Vivo’s push toward professional-grade mobile photography.

Vivo X300 Ultra 200MP main camera brings a new sensor and improved optics

The Vivo X300 Ultra 200MP main camera will reportedly feature a large 1/1.12-inch sensor, which Vivo describes as a premium configuration for mobile imaging. Thanks to the new sensor design, the effective light-gathering area per pixel is said to increase by more than 30% compared to previous generations, allowing better performance in low-light conditions.

Interestingly, Vivo is also adopting a 35mm focal length for the main camera. This focal length is widely preferred for street and documentary photography because it offers a natural perspective that closely resembles how the human eye sees the world. It also helps reduce distortion when capturing people, urban scenes, and everyday moments.

Stabilization is another area receiving a major upgrade. The camera system is moving from CIPA 5.0 stabilization to CIPA 6.5, which should significantly improve handheld photography and video recording, particularly in low-light environments.

The optical configuration has also been improved. While the previous Vivo X200 Ultra used a 7P lens, the upcoming flagship will feature a 1G + 6P optical setup. This design includes ALD PRO coating, which reportedly reduces reflections by around 30%, along with additional coatings to minimize ghosting and enhance clarity in challenging lighting conditions.

Expected quad-camera setup

Although the leak mainly focuses on the Vivo X300 Ultra 200MP main camera, rumors suggest the phone will feature a quad-camera system.

The expected configuration includes a 50MP ultra-wide camera using the Sony LYT-828 sensor and a powerful 200MP periscope telephoto camera based on Samsung’s HPB sensor. There are also reports of a 5MP multispectral sensor designed to improve color accuracy in photos.

For selfies, the device is rumored to include a 50MP front-facing camera, maintaining Vivo’s focus on high-resolution imaging across all lenses.

With the 400mm teleconverter kit already showcased at Mobile World Congress 2026, the upcoming flagship is clearly being positioned as a serious tool for mobile creators. Vivo appears to be targeting professional photographers and content creators, while also planning accessories that could make advanced photography more accessible for everyday users.
