Google is preparing to open the Android 17 beta program to third-party smartphone brands after releasing the second beta build to eligible Google Pixel devices. Reports suggest the stable Android 17 update could arrive in May, with an official announcement expected at Google I/O.
Following the announcement, Vivo is expected to join the Android 17 beta preview program. While the company has not officially confirmed its list of eligible devices, Vivo’s software update policy gives us a clear idea of which phones are likely to receive the Android 17-based OriginOS 7 update.
Vivo Android 17 Update: What to Expect
Vivo typically offers 4–5 years of Android OS upgrades and security updates for most of its smartphones. Based on previous rollout patterns:
- The X series will likely receive the update first.
- The V series and T series should follow.
- Mid-range devices may receive the update in early 2027, depending on region.
Although Android 17 is not expected to bring major visual changes compared to Android 16, Google is focusing heavily on security, privacy, and system optimizations. However, OriginOS 7 could introduce exclusive Vivo features and UI enhancements.
