A recent report by market research company Omdia has provided excellent news for the wearable market globally, and specifically for Xiaomi. During the second quarter of 2025, the industry experienced the strong year-over-year growth of 13% in shipment volumes, which equated to an all-time high of 50.2 million pieces. This strong momentum positions Xiaomi at the top spot of the ranking board once again and solidifies its reputation as the leader in wearable tech in full appreciation of the innovative magic observed in devices such as the Xiaomi Band series and the entire HyperOS platform.
Market Growth and Projected Futures
The shipment explosion is mainly caused by solid consumption of entry-levels of basic wearable devices that contain increased sophistication in health and activity tracking features. This development has greatly increased the market’s penetration. The analysis by Omdia doesn’t go just up to the current time; the company also foresees positive developments in the future with an expected growth of 8% in the entire year 2025 to be followed by an even better 9% growth in 2026. This continued growth points towards a healthy and dynamic market where innovation pays.
The Value of Innovation
Cynthia Chen, research manager at Omdia, also pointed out the economic impact of the growth. The wearable wristbands market is set to reach $36.6 billion in 2024 and is likely to cross the $40 billion mark for the first time in 2025. Notably, though smartwatches in the second half of 2025 will contribute just 32% to the total shipment, the segment would contribute an enormous 69% of the entire market value. This shows the value of premium devices and also the difficulty manufacturers face in providing strong reason points to upgrade the already used wearables in the hands of customers.
The Global Wearable Rankings
The second-quarter competition for the year 2025 is conspicuous in displaying hierarchy, with Xiaomi having the clear upper hand. The global shipment leaders in the top ten brands are:
- Xiaomi
- Huawei
- Apple
- Samsung
- Noise (An Indian wearable brand)
Xiaomi’s successful holding of the number one spot in the face of such strong competition is testament to the efficacy of its model, which blends advanced features with affordability in order to offer a product range that is acceptable throughout the world.
