The POCO X8 Pro Max comes with the fastest MediaTek processor ever

Xiaomi’s performance-driven brand has only just kicked off a shockwave in the market with a teaser of its coming REDMI Turbo 5 Max flagship killer, which will retail for 2.5K Yuan (~$360). This will be the world’s first smartphone to come with the hotshot Dimensity 9500S processor.

We’ve seen the benchmarks, and it is simply astonishing. With a confirmed AnTuTu V11 benchmark of over 3.61 millionREDMI Turbo 5 Max is not only competing in the mid-range segment but is also chasing down Snapdragon 8 Elite flagships, which are twice as expensive.

TL;DR

  • World’s First: Features Dimensity 9500s with all-large-cores architecture and 12 cores for GPU.
  • Benchmark Beast: Scores over 3.61 million points on AnTuTu, ruling the mid-range market.
  • Global Rebrand: Expected to be launched globally as POCO X8 Pro Max later this year.
  • Gaming Pro: The official teasers reveal a locked 120 FPS for MOBA and FPS games with a resolution of 1.5K.

Is the Dimensity 9500s the New King of Performance?

The Dimensity 9500s processors found in REDMI Turbo 5 Max are a huge step forward for the Turbo line. In the past, such flagship “all-big-core” processors were only available on the flagship REDMI K Ultra line (also sold worldwide as Xiaomi T Series), but now it comes to a much more affordable price tag.

During official lab tests, it retained a nearly perfect 120.1 FPS in mainstream MOBAs and 119.9 FPS in competitive shooters. Even in graphically demanding 3D RPGs that tend to slow down most smartphones, the Turbo 5 Max retained a rock-solid 60.0 FPS.

What I think is particularly amazing about this phone is the price point it is aiming to achieve: under $400. Although the phone will available only in China soon. I am confident it will make a huge impact when it is launched worldwide as POCO X8 Pro Max.

Giant Battery and World Expectations

According to leaks, the Chinese variant of the REDMI Turbo 5 Max is going to come with a massive 9,000mAh battery and 100W fast charging support. This smartphone is going to be the longest-lasting performance smartphone ever created.

However, we must be realistic about the global version. The general practice in the past has been that the international version of the Xiaomi series comes with a slightly smaller battery compared to the Chinese variant. When it launches in the international market as the POCO X8 Pro Max, it may come with a standardized, albeit large, battery size that adheres to international certification requirements.

What’s Next for the Turbo Series?

The pre-orders for the REDMI Turbo 5 Max have been launched in China. This gives early adopters an extension of the one-year warranty and the 365-day replacement service. This gives the confidence that Xiaomi must have perfected the cooling system for the Dimensity 9500s. We are definitely keeping an eye on the Xiaomi HyperOS optimization for this particular hardware.
