Snapdragon 8 Elite renaming of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 confirmed

Following the report from Blogger @DCS, it was revealed that Qualcomm’s much-anticipated next-generation flagship mobile platform, currently codenamed SM8750, may officially be named Snapdragon 8 Elite or Snapdragon 8 Ultra. It is not confirmed yet as an official name for the global market, though, since it comes from the translation of the Chinese language of Extreme Edition.

Qualcomm has now confirmed that the new mobile platform is indeed going to pack in the powerful Qualcomm Oryon CPU for a big leap in mobile processing. It is said that this flagship chipset’s official announcement will be made in the Snapdragon Summit, which is scheduled to happen from October 22nd to 24th (Beijing time).

What We Know So Far

  • Naming Speculation: The chipset’s name has not yet been ascertained mainly because translations are uncertain. It is thus being referred to either as Snapdragon 8 Elite or Snapdragon 8 Ultra. The world will know further about its naming convention when the Snapdragon Summit is held.
  • Snapdragon Oryon CPU: Qualcomm has announced that this platform will house their Oryon CPU, which is a leap in not only performance but also efficiency. The expectation is that this new CPU will drive up the benchmark again for mobile computing power in the 2024 flagship smartphones.
  • OnePlus 13 Leak: The blogger streamed that the prototype in the Snapdragon promotional video resembles the OnePlus 13. It may mean that OnePlus will be among the first manufacturers using this platform. Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, can introduce the device with this powerful new chipset up his sleeve:.
  •  Geekbench Leak: Scores for several Geekbench 6 benchmarks of the OnePlus 13, which was supposed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite/Ultra, first appeared last September. It had shown a single-core score of 3236 and a multi-core score reaching as high as 10049-pointing toward top-of-the-line performance.

The chipset by Qualcomm is supposed to help the company retain its dominance in the space of mobile processors by fostering state-of-the-art performance and features.
