Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 brings 4nm power and 144Hz display support to budget phones

Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, a significant jump for its midrange chipset lineup. The new SoC is built on 4nm process technology, offering better power efficiency and performance over the last one on the 6nm process. According to Android Headlines and IT Home, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 also adds support for 144Hz displayWi-Fi 6E, and 2K video recording—a huge leap in midrange performance.

Enhanced CPU and GPU Architecture

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is powered by an octa-core Kryo CPU, with 4 performance cores that are clocked up to 2.4GHz and 4 efficiency cores that run up to 1.8GHz. Qualcomm says this setup provides up to 36% better CPU performance than the last generation.

For gamers, the GPU has been heavily improved with a 59% performance increase, along with support for 144Hz refresh rate at FHD+ resolution. Qualcomm has also included its flagship-level features such as Variable Rate Shading (VRS) and Game Quick Touch, enabling smoother gameplay and reduced input latency—perfect for competitive mobile gaming experience.

Enhanced Imaging and Connectivity

For photography, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 supports up to 200MP camera sensors and 2K video recording, thanks to Qualcomm’s Multi-Frame Noise Reduction (MFNR) technology. This offers more detailed and sharper images, even in low light.

It features an integrated 5G Release 16 modem, along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4, which provide a boost to the network speed and connection stability. These wireless enhancements combined make it ideal for users who need stable connectivity for streaming, gaming, or content sharing.

Memory and Device Compatibility

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 also offers LPDDR5 memory with speeds up to 3200MHz for faster data transfer and less power consumption. It has not been revealed by Qualcomm yet which devices will debut first with this new chipset, but it is possible that Xiaomi, OPPO, and Lenovo brands will utilize it for their upcoming budget 5G smartphones.

This is in alignment with Qualcomm’s goal of bringing flagship-level features to the entry tier of the market, which helps make high-performance mobile experiences more attainable.
