REDMI Turbo 5 to arrive with metal body and ultrasonic fingerprint

According to a recent report by IT Home, the new Redmi Turbo 5 series is set to be one of the most advanced mid-range series of the company. Citing famous tipster Smart Pikachu, the new Turbo series will feature a metal mid-frameunder-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and a Dimensity chipset that bridges the gap between mid-range and premium performance. The blogger termed the configuration a “first-mover advantage,” implying that Redmi is set to disrupt the market once again.

Advanced Build and New-Generation Fingerprint Technology

Unlike its predecessor, the Redmi Turbo 4, the upcoming Turbo 5 series will take a major step forward in design. The metal mid-frame gives the phone a more premium look and improved structural strength. The inclusion of an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor—a feature typically found on flagship models—marks a significant upgrade for Redmi’s Turbo lineup. Ultrasonic sensors use sound waves to create a 3D map of a fingerprint, ensuring faster and more accurate recognition even when the finger is wet or dirty.

First Dimensity Hybrid Chipset for Turbo Line

The blogger revealed that the Turbo 5 series will be powered by a Dimensity mid-range/flagship hybrid chipset, which could be from MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9000 generation. That would potentially make it the first Redmi phone with a flagship-class Dimensity processor optimized for maximum efficiency and AI performance.

Launch Timeline and Model Details

Asked when it would be released, the source replied that the Turbo 5 will launch next month in China, though only one model has been confirmed to date. Following previous patterns, Xiaomi may have a standard and Pro model—similar to the Turbo 4 series. Redmi Turbo 5 will be out as POCO X8 Pro global markets.

As a point of reference, the Redmi Turbo 4 has a Dimensity 8400-Ultra on its base model and a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 on its Pro variant. It is also employing IP66/68/69 protection, a 6550mAh Jinshajiang battery, and a 6.83-inch 1.5K LTPS display. The Turbo 5 line should build on those specs but follow the same cutthroat China pricing plan.

The Redmi Turbo 5 series represents Xiaomi’s vision of redefining the mid-range market by merging premium hardware, flagship-grade security, and long battery endurance. If the leaks hold true, Redmi’s next Turbo device could become one of the most competitive smartphones in its category, setting new standards for affordable performance and build quality.
