REDMI officially joins iPhone 17 trend with new “Sunshine Orange” flagship

It’s an open secret in the tech world: when Apple sets a trend, the industry follows. The iPhone 17 Pro Max recently popularized a vibrant, warm orange hue, and we’ve since seen brands like Honor, Huawei, and Realme rush to adopt similar palettes. Now, Xiaomi is joining the party.

Ahead of its confirmed January 29th launch, Redmi has officially unveiled the Redmi Turbo 5 Max in a stunning new “Sunshine Orange” colorway. But unlike typical trend-chasing, this device backs up its premium looks with what might be the most aggressive spec sheet of 2026.

TL;DR

  • Design Trend: The Redmi Turbo 5 Max adopts the “Sunshine Orange” color, following the trend set by the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
  • Global Name: This device is expected to launch globally as the POCO X8 Pro Max.
  • Monster Specs: Features the Dimensity 9500s chip and a groundbreaking 9000mAh battery.
  • Launch: Officially debuting in China on January 29th.

“Sunshine Orange” and The Flagship Look

Redmi isn’t just slapping a coat of paint on a budget chassis here. The new “Sunshine Orange” variant is being used to highlight the device’s “flagship design language.” The phone features a CNC metal frame and “large R corners”—a design choice that blends texture and ergonomics, very similar to the premium feel of the latest iPhones.

Redmi describes the new finish poetically: “A touch of warm orange that is as bright and dazzling as the sun, making the whole day full of energy.” With the Chinese New Year approaching, the marketing leans heavily into the idea that “good luck comes with the light,” positioning this orange model as a symbol of prosperity.

Beyond the Paint: A Performance Monster

While the color is the latest headline, the real story remains the hardware. We previously confirmed that the Turbo 5 Max (and the future POCO X8 Pro Max) will be the first to sport the Dimensity 9500s chipset. Built on TSMC’s N3E process, this chip scores a reported 3.61 million in benchmarks, outperforming many flagship devices priced double.

To keep that processor running, Xiaomi has packed in a 9000mAh Xiaomi Gold Sand Battery. Thanks to Xiaomi HyperOS optimization, it rivals the longevity of 10,000mAh competitors. Plus, in a massive show of confidence, early buyers get a five-year battery warranty with free replacement if health drops below 80%.

Note: As mentioned in our previous reports, while the Chinese model gets 9000mAh, the global POCO X8 Pro Max may feature a slightly smaller capacity due to international safety regulations.

Fast Charging and User Perks

The device doesn’t just last long; it charges fast. It supports 100W fast charging and is the first in the Turbo series to support the 100W PPS protocol. It even includes 27W reverse charging, allowing you to top up your friends’ iPhones when their smaller batteries inevitably die.

When Can You Get It?

The Redmi Turbo 5 series launches in China on January 29th at 19:00. While the “Sunshine Orange” color is timed for the Chinese New Year, we are hopeful this vibrant option makes its way to the global market when the POCO X8 Pro Max arrives later this year.
